Licensed by the State of New Hampshire, The Van Dyke House is located on Colebrook's Main Street and is considered a gem of the "Great North Woods." Also known as 'The Painted Lady' The Van Dyke House was fashioned after the Victorian Eastlake Style in 1888 and was first used as a boarding house. Built by lumber baron and businessman, George Van Dyke, the home is well known for it's gabled roof, large overhanging eaves and exposed trusses and walls. The main house has 16 rooms with 9 bedrooms and four bathrooms and there's a wing off the main house with 4 more bedrooms, a full bath and a large common room. The Van Dyke House is truly a home, not a facility. We encourage the family and friends of our residents to be an active part of the home life at the Van Dyke House. Please feel free to drop in anytime. Enjoy lunch or even a cup of coffee with your loved one. You are always welcome to participate in whatever is happening. We welcome your thoughts and ideas on how we can make the Van Dyke House an even better place for your family.
