Our names are Bobie and Mandie and we have started our own puppet
company called
'Just 2 (me and
you) Passing Thru'.
Together we write our own shows weaving together fairy tale story
characters, book characters, and movie characters. We use rod
puppets, sock puppets, stick puppets, and interesting props to tell
a story or two that entertain young and old.
“What
do ya think of Australia Mate?” “It’s Great Mate!”
Let’s take a walk-a-bout the land down under with our Tour Guides
to Everything Australian Peter Sherman and Miss Sophie.
Mr. Sherman (a character from the movie Finding Nemo) is from
Sydney, Australia and Miss Sophie (a sock puppet who lacks some
manners) is our resident expert on sheep since she is one.
They use their wit and wisdom to inform the audience about
Australian terms that will be used during the show (didgeridoo,
wombat, boomerang, outback, and land down under).
“I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house in!” Is the
opening of next scene where our world travelers, The Three
Little Pigs, are reading the same book about Australia. But
instead of doing a “read-a-bout” they end up on a “walk-a-bout”
as they get sucked into the book and land in Australia.
Literature travel can be tricky, and not only do they land in
the outback but they are transformed into a Tiddlywick Frog, a
Bearded Dragon, and a girl. This only adds to the fun and
adventure! They visit some “Big” attractions on their way to
Sydney and they learn some very interesting things about the
land down under.

ABOUT THE PUPPETEERS
Just 2
(me and you) Passing Thru
is a partnership between Bobie Bunnell and Mandie Lemay.
Together we write our own shows weaving together fairy tale
story characters, book characters, and movie characters. We use
rod puppets, sock puppets, stick puppets, and interesting props
to tell a story or two that entertain young and old. So you
“Betta getta a jiggalong” and join in the silliness as we
discover the magic of puppets in Australia!
Roberta “Bobie” Bunnell resides in Canaan, VT with her two cats
and daughters Kara and Airole. Bobie is self-employed teaching
guitar, mandolin, banjo, and art in her studio in W.
Stewartstown, NH. Bobie was the children’s librarian for three
years at the Colebrook Public Library in Colebrook, NH. During
this time she developed a puppetry workshop to teach children
how to make puppets and then write and perform a puppet show for
family and friends at the annual summer reading program awards
banquet. Her experience with this program provided the
foundation to take the puppets on the road.
Mandie Lemay is 18 years old and loves children, which is one of
the reasons she decided to partner with Bobie with puppetry.
Being a kid at heart and a natural “ham” makes her perfect for
the entertainment business. Mandie has been homeschooled her
whole life in Norton, V.T with her four siblings and has been
playing guitar for three years.

Music For Rascals |
| |
|
|
Music
For Rascals is a music exploration class for children 2-5 years
of age and their adult buddy. This is a group program that meets at
10:00 AM on Saturdays for approximately one-half hour to sing, jam,
and explore music.
Young
children
learn music through
their bodies and this class gives many opportunities to do so.
First we warm up with some clapping exercises that teach tempo and
rhythm. Then each child chooses an instrument to jam with. We have
bongos, mandolins, guitars, tambourines, and other instruments as
they are available. Children are encouraged to bring in their own
instruments to play and share. We sing songs that the children know
and enjoy.
This is a great
opportunity for children to explore the world of music in a group
setting and gives them the ability to express themselves musically
while exposing them to a number of instruments.

Music
is an important part of life, and learning to play an instrument can
give a lifetime of enjoyment. All students start out by learning
how to play their instrument by observation, repetition, and
learning songs they would like to know. Only after they are
comfortable with their instrument and able to play a few songs do we
start to learn how to read music. Students also learn proper care
and maintenance of their instrument.
Weekly
lessons at 45 minutes each are required. This amount of time
gives the student and I time to go over what they have practiced,
teach new material, and then have a “jam” session to build
confidence and have fun.
45 minute lesson $15
Rentals: Every student should start out with an instrument
of quality sound. However, the lack of knowledge and cost of a new
or used instrument can be daunting when you are not sure that you
will like playing. This is why I offer affordable guitar, mandolin,
and banjo rentals. I offer monthly rentals or you can rent to own.
Supplies: Roberta’s Studio keeps on hand a few necessities
for students to purchase. These include strings, metronomes,
stands, straps, picks, and tuners. I am also able to order other
musical supplies and instruments.
Commitment is the key for everyone involved. The student
will see progress, parents see results, and the teacher gets good
recommendations.
Lessons: Payment is due at the beginning of the month for
the entire month. If a student cannot make a lesson, 24 hour notice
is required and the lesson can be rescheduled if an opening is
available.
Rentals: A one month deposit and the first month’s payment
are due upon receiving the instrument for students that are renting
to own. First month’s payment is due for students that are renting.
Subsequent payments are due at the beginning of the month.
Please note: This is just an overview of the policies
concerning canceling and rental. A complete policy is available
when interested students apply.

ABOUT BOBIE |
| |
|
|
I
have been a musician for over thirty-five years and an artist for
six. I reside in Canaan, VT with my daughters Kara and Airole and
cats Ptatty and Kel. Roberta’s Studio opened in April 2006 in West
Stewartstown where I teach guitar, mandolin, banjo, and art. In
October 2006 I joined the band
The Folk
Tree which features Folk and Celtic music. I enjoy performing and
bringing back my experiences to my students.
All
teachers need to keep up their skills and I am no exception. I
periodically take guitar lessons from Patrick Ross and have
incorporated many of his methods into my own teaching. I also spend
time reading magazines, books, and speaking with other musicians and
encourage my students to do the same.
I believe
that family is the foundation of our country and enjoy becoming a
part of your family. Please feel free to pop in any time to observe
a lesson or ask about what I have to offer. My own family and
friends pop in from time to time to say hi and it is this that
brings the community to my studio. I am well known for my
flexibility and am willing to try new things so ask questions and I
will see what I can come up with.
